“Black Lives Matter” protests throughout connecticut

Protests have been erupting throughout the state after the killing of George Floyd, who died on Monday after a white police officer pinned him to the ground, a knee pressed against Mr. Floyd’s neck. Protests have gone viral throughout the state yesterday in places like Hartford, Bridgeport, New Haven, and many other places in CT.




Over the weekend there have been many places people have gathered to express their concern and protest. More often than not it has been peaceful across CT.

Protests in Bridgeport have shut down Rt 8 :

On Saturday roads have been blocked by protesters in Bridgeport and have shutdown Route 8. Hundreds of people gathered to express their concern and protest against the killing of George Floyd.

Protests in Hartford:

Hartford has witnessed thousands of people gathering in different roads and also in the Bushnell Park. People came to the streets with placards on and chanting in a peaceful manner across the city. More than 2,000 people flood Hartford streets to protest the killing of George Floyd.

Also, thousands of people gathered in the centre of the city at the Bushnell Park to express their concern and protest against the killing. Demonstrators wearing masks gathered in Bushnell Park on Saturday and marched in the street to the State Capitol. This caused temporary delays for buses and traffic. The crowd leaving from Bushell Park marched by the Hartford Public Safety Complex on its way to the capitol.

Protests in Waterbury:

Protests in Waterbury started early on sunday where hundres of people gathered. Though the protest has gone violent in many places this has been rather peaceful in Waterbury.
