Upcoming movies at Southington Drive In 2022!!! Add these to your calendar for this summer!!!
The Southington Drive In is one of the state’s only 3 remaining outdoor venues. The facility was originally launched in 1955 as a for-profit business and showed movies for nearly 50 years before closing in 2002. Southington residents voted in 2004 to purchase the property in order to expand nearby Recreation Park and continue to enjoy outdoor activities at the nostalgic site.
In initial 2010, a group of local volunteers banded together under the banner of the “Southington Drive In Committee” to initiate the process of opening new the property’s drive-in. The committee coordinates all aspects of the drive-in and is independent of the town of Southington. Southington Drive in snack bar is also a hidden gem because it is run by the Southington High School DECA Club, with all proceeds going to that organization and its different activities. Over the course of eight seasons of weekly drive-in movies, the Southington Drive in Committee has distributed more than $250,000 to host groups. They host an annual Halloween Festival on the Saturday before Halloween, in addition to weekly Saturday night movies.
Local marketers, many of whom have been with them since their very first season, also support the Southington Drive In.” Make every effort to support these businesses. Please take a moment to look at the numerous host civic and non-profit organizations listed below.
