Unique Restaurant : Trackside Brick Oven Pizzeria – A Connecticut Restaurant That Serves Pizza

Started in the year 2001, Trackside was the brainchild of three partners with a lifelong dream to open an authentic pizza house with only the finest quality of ingredients.  With limited restaurant experience the early years in the subway car came with its challenges to perfect Trackside’s now signature style of pizza and entrees.  In 2007, Trackside was featured as a primary location for the film “The Haunting of Amelia” aka “The Other Side of the Tracks” spotlighting the restaurant to a now global audience.  With continued hard work and dedication Trackside was able to distinguish itself from a never-ending sea of pizza places in the area.

Today, Trackside continues to run on schedule offering an ever expanding menu of quality entrees, appetizers, grinders and of course authentic brick oven pizza.  Owner, Ed Naclerio and staff make guests feel at home with delicious food and good conversation.  Many of Trackside’s recipes are inspired right from grandma’s kitchen– keeping it simple without skimping out on the flavor.  Specialty pizzas like the Rustica, Lobster Pie and Old Fashion Marinara have become unique staples to the Trackside menu.  New specials are also being added on a regular basis.

One of the most interesting and unique qualities of Trackside is its location.  Located in an authentic 1920’s Philadelphia subway car, Trackside is nestled right next to the tracks just minutes away from downtown Wallingford.
Originally a hot dog stand located about 5 miles north, the subway car was relocated in the late 1980s to its current location on 118 Dudley Ave.  After mixed success in the 1990s the location eventually closed and was left empty for several years.

In 2000, the vacant subway car was given new life when three partners with an idea purchased the property and gave it a complete overhaul.  A new gas-fired brick oven was installed in the rear of the car and the kitchen and dining area where fully renovated. Being sure to maintain its authentic feel many of the original iconic elements of the subway car have been restored to preserve its charming look. Patrons can takeout or dine-in right in the subway car.  Modern trains roaring past adds a truly one of a kind experience for adults and children alike!
