This 100 mile road trip is a treat to your eyes during this fall

Connecticut reaches the peak of fall foliage in the month of October when the entire state becomes amazing to visit. Peak color is estimated to be between October 5 and November 8. Fall foliage reaches the peak in north of Connecticut first and then goes down to the south.

Begin in Torrington:

Start your trip from Torrington. You can start your trip from Burr Pond State Park. Spend some time in the Burr Pond State Park where the view during the fall foliage would be breathtaking.

Go north on Route 8 to Winsted then northwest on 44 to Canaan:

From the Burr Pond state park go North on to Route 8 to Winsted and then go to Northeast on Route 44 to Cannan. You can spend some time at “The American Museum of Tort Law” which is a museum developed by Ralph Nader, located in his hometown of Winsted, Connecticut. The museum focuses on topics of civil justice.

Also you can spend some time at the Great Falls in Cannan. Great Falls is a waterfall formed along the Housatonic River at Falls Village in the town of Canaan amidst Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills. Great Falls is the highest volume waterfall in the state.

Turn south on Route 7 to Kent, then east on 341 to Warren and South on 45 through New Preston:

Once you spend time in Cannan then go to Route 7 to Kent. Then go east on Route 341 to Warren. Once you are in Warren you can spend some time at the Lake Waramaug in Warren. The fall foliage view in Lake Waramaug is simply amazing. Lake Waramaug is a 656-acre lake occupying parts of the towns of Kent, Warren, and Washington in Litchfield County, Connecticut, approximately 24 miles north of Danbury.

Go east on Route 202 for about a mile then turn south on 47 to Washington Depot:

After spending some time at the Lake Waramaug go east to Route 202 for about a mile and then turn south on Route 47to Washington Depot. Take some time off on the road and take some pics. The fall foliage view on the road is simple amazing.

Turn northeast on Route 109 to East Morris, then north on Route 63 to Litchfield:

Move to Route 109 to East Morris and then north on Route 63 to Litchfield. In the entire trip this is the place where you need to spend the most time. Fall foliage view is Connecticut is most amazing in Litchfield.

Kent Falls State Park is a public recreation area located in the town of Kent, Connecticut, within the Litchfield Hills region of the southern Berkshires. The state park is home to Kent Falls, a series of waterfalls on Falls Brook, a tributary of the Housatonic River. The falls drop 250 feet in under a quarter mile.

Head east on 118 for a few miles then north on Route 8 to close the loop:

At the end head east on Route 118 for a few miles and then go north on Route 8 to close the trip. The trip can be enjoyed in the first week of October till mid of October when the fall foliage reaches it’s peak.
