Mohawk Mountain Ski area is the best place for you in the last few days of winter this year. This place is Connecticut’s 1st ever and best winter sports facility. History:

Walt Schoenknecht, a member of the Skiing Hall of Fame, founded Mohawk Mountain Ski Area in the rugged beauty of northwestern Connecticut in 1947. Walt collaborated with several local engineers in 1948 to create the first snowmaking machine ever used at a resort, which served as the foundation for the technology used today around the world. For over 70 years, Mohawk Mountain has continued to remain a family business and a popular destination.

Mohawk Mountain Ski Area is a for-profit corporation that collaborates with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection at Mohawk State Park. Cross-country trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are available at the top of the mountain, but they are not maintained by or connected to the ski area. Snow Tubing at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area:

They also offer snow tubing at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area. To enjoy the snow tubing you must be 42” or taller. There is no age restriction for snow tubing in Mohawk Mountain Ski Area. For tubing passes you have to order them online. Passes are $25 per hour and 45 minutes, plus a $5 media fee for your RFID pass card. Session times are liable to change due to inclement weather.

Ski Rentals at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area:

You can enjoy skiing and snowboarding although you don’t have a snowboard. The Rental Shop has a wide selection of shaped skis, snowboards, and top-of-the-line skis by Rossignol, Elan, Nordica, and Head.

Dining Options at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area:

Mohawk Mountain Ski cafeteria-style dining area is open 7 days a week and provides hearty, wholesome food made from the finest ingredients. For over seventy years, they have been feeding hungry skiers with tasty treats at reasonable prices. Their regular menu features their famous chili and New England Clam Chowder, as well as salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and other favorites.

They also have vegetarian options! Visit “The Triple,” their deck-side Coffee Bar and Waffle House, for steaming lattes, cappuccinos, or Americanos with a delicious fresh Belgian or Brownie Waffle. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack, dining at Mohawk Mountain’s Main Lodge is sure to satisfy.
