Inside the Big Cow is a time capsule at Beardsley Park Bridgeport CT!!! To be opened in 2072!!!
This Sunday on the 27th of June, Beardsley Park Bridgeport CT celebrated its 50th birthday. But what was more exciting was the futuristic vision to add a time capsule that is planned to be opened in 2072. If you are surprised and curious to know what’s inside the Time Capsule? It has a lot of Zoo history, a painting done by Chang the Amur tiger, drawings and letters from children. The time capsule also contains notes from Zoo guests. One of the guests was clever enough to include 2022 coins as you never know if there would be coins at all in 2072. In a world that is dominated by bitcoin already, it’s hard to believe there would be any coins in 2072.
The proclamations they received from the city, state, and Connecticut General Assembly for its 100th birthday, its 2022 calendar and book “Ellie’s Day at the Zoo,” and the master plan for the Zoo written in 1973 was added to the time capsule. The master plan would be 99 years old in 2072. There’s a copy of CT Wildlife magazine with an article that details all the important conservation work the Zoo does in the state-from working from salmon and trout in our waterways to studies involving bobcats and black bears were also included.
There were other photos too and many other things could have been added but it was difficult to add all of them in a single box. How do you sum up 100 years of history in one box placed inside a Big Cow? There was one thing that was probably one of the biggest events of our lifetime was added. That was a mask to mark the pandemic and something that was very important. Only time will tell in 2072 what they forgot to add!
Here are the Zoo Career Explorers were front and center for its 100th Birthday. These kids would be grown up and would upon the time capsule in 2072.
