A farm tour to Indulge On Fresh Chocolate and to meet the cows that helped make those delicious chocolate!!!

Chocolate is a favorite item and at the same time pretty delicious for sweets lovers everywhere. In Connecticut, Milk House Chocolates is positioned within Thorncrest Farm CT and was founded on the dream of making chocolate with fresh butter and cream.

Kimberly Thorn, a farmer as well as a chocolatier, created her Milkhouse Chocolates by carefully matching each cow’s milk with all-natural flavorings such as farm-grown mint or raspberries. It means they make chocolates using only natural products. Not any artificial ones. Milkhouse Chocolates are only sold exclusively from the thorncrest farm because the family built their farmhouse.

While Kimberly was working on a horse farm in Ireland, she noticed an older gentleman cycling by with milk totes on his way to a small café and confectionery. From this, she got the idea. So she and her boyfriend Clint decided to integrate farming and food manufacturing, which they have been doing successfully for nearly 30 years.

Kimberly and Clint Thorn feed their cows the best hay and natural feeds, which results in their iconic cream milk and flavorful artisanal chocolates, Milk House Chocolates, made from fresh orchard fruits, garden herbs, and honey. This is the main secret of this chocolate farm, i.e. Magic is in the milk.

The core focus of the family Thorncrest farm is straightforward: “the comfort and happiness of their cows”. And this is the main factor to everything – recognizing each cow’s unique flavor in the milk and ensuring that flavor isn’t compromised by never stressing the cows.



Each chocolate is linked to a specific cow, and the milk from each cow makes a huge difference in the flavor of the chocolates. Every caramel is made entirely from the milk of a small-breed Jersey cow called Daydream. Daydream’s milk is the only one suitable for the job due to its sweetness and flavor.

With over 72 different chocolates available all year, availability is associated with factors such as the season and which cows are milking at the time. The “Zesty Lime and Licorice” chocolate is made from the milk of only one cow, Queen.
