This rail trail links to a significant portion of Connecticut, including Farmington, Southington, Unionville, New Haven, and even Massachusetts. You can travel along the Farmington River or the Connecticut River in some places. Everywhere you go is fairly crowded, particularly on a nice day. .
It begins at the state park's parking lot and travels south through the park and into the adjacent state forest. This trail is really amazing. It has a number of glacial erratics and is very rocky. It provides a means to venture a little farther than the park.
Bigelow Hollow serves as the northern terminus of the Nipmuck Trail, which runs for about 30 miles through the northeastern part of Connecticut. Additionally, there are some loop paths that go around some stunning lakes.
The Groton Coastal Reserve includes this trek. The walk along the river is quite pleasant. You can walk to the rocks, along the bluffs, and everywhere else if the ocean is out.
It is listed as one of the best hiking spots in CT for its amazing top view and atmosphere.
