Begin in Hartford:
Start your trip from in Hartford and if you have not been to Elizabeth Park Rose Garden this is the best place to start your trip. The beauty of this place mesmerizes people throughout the year and especially during the fall foliage time.

The next point of attraction in your trip should be the “Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail” as it is such an amazing place during the fall. You can simply stroll around the canal enjoying the beautiful fall foliage view. It might not be a hike but it’s awesome for a stroll during the early morning as you start your trip.

Take 1-91 north to exit 45 (Bridge Street, East Windsor) :
From the Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail go to I91 North and exit at 45. Then you can go on the road to East Windsor through the bridge street. The view on the street is breathtaking as you cross through some of the most amazing fall foliage viewpoints in CT.
If you have some spare time and have been tired of driving, taking some time off from driving and riding on the trolley could be absolute fun. You can enjoy the fall without focusing on the road and instead completely focusing on the fall foliage.

Head west on Route 140 to the airport, then south on 75 to Route 20 :
After spending some time at the trolley museum you can straight onto route 140 to towards the airport and then move to south on route 75 and then onto route 20.
If you drive the entire highway i.e. route 20, you’ll pass through Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.

Head west and then to south through People’s State Forest to Pleasant Valley :
Then head towards the Granby and the Hartlands of Connecticut. Then go through the west river road south through the People’s State Forest to Pleasant Valley.
The view of fall foliage at the pleasant valley is simply amazing. The valley is just amazing during the peak fall and you would be getting lots of amazing instagrammable points for you instagram posts.
Continue south on Route 181 to Route 44 and head east through New Hartford, Canton and Avon to Route 10 – south to Farmington:
At this point of time you are pretty close to the end of your trip and covered more than 60 miles in the trip. But the awesome trip still continues as you continue south on route 181 and then to route 44. Then move east through New Hartford, Canton and Avon to route 10. And then you finally reach Farmington.
Pick up Route 4 and head for Hartford to close the loop:
Finally, pick route 4 and head towards the last leg of your trip towards Hartford as you close your trip. This one-day long trip is simply amazing during the weekend.
