Road Trips in CT : Route 213 – Short, Simple and Refreshing
Road trips have always been the most revered outdoor activity in summer and more so during the month of July. As the summer is at its peak and people have started moving outside and started enjoying some of the amazing road trips here are some of the compilations from AmazingCT to help you plan for your day trips during the weekends.
The trip starts from Waterford and ends at New London. This 10-mile trip is a small and refreshing trip that you can plan during the weekdays as well.
1. Harkness Memorial:
Take 213 south from Route 1 to reach Harkness Memorial State Park, formerly a magnificent 230-acre summer estate. Once a magnificent summer estate on Long Island Sound, now offers 42-room Italian mansion (tours available), formal gardens, picnic areas, fine beach for combing and fishing. No swimming.

2. Eugene O’Neill Theatre: Next on the trip you can take a quick break at Eugene O’Neill Memorial Theatre Center. If you’re a fan of theatre, check out the offerings here. The O’Neill is the country’s preeminent organization which is dedicated to the development of new works and new voices of American theater, and named in honor of Eugene O’Neill. Eugene O’Neill, four-time Pulitzer Prize-winner and America’s only playwright to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The O’Neill has been home to more than 1,000 new works for the stage and thousands more emerging artists. Many projects developed at the O’Neill have gone on to full production at theaters around the world.
