This iconic 13 years old restaurant in Hartford getting closed amid this Pandemic

Firebox Restaurant in Hartford CT is one of the iconic restaurants in Connecticut and had been in business for the last 13 years. As a result of the COVID pandemic and the impact on different businesses across our state, this has taken a toll on this 13-year-old restaurant as well. As small businesses and restaurants operate on a very small margin it is difficult for them to sustain for a longer period without any business. This pandemic has effectively eliminated those margins and forcing this restaurant to close amid the fact that there is no real end in sight.

The incredible ambiance of this place would be missed by lots of people in Hartford and across the state.

The story of Firebox restaurant is as unique as it’s food. Proud to be recognized for their creative they directly support our community. In 2007 the Melville Charitable Trust launched Firebox, a farm-to-table restaurant in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Hartford. Serving the extraordinary food and to bring jobs, investment, and opportunity to the community is the vision of Firebox.

While Firebox is closing, its neighborhood partner, the culinary nonprofit Forge City Works, will resume operations this summer. The Kitchen at Billings Forge is reopening in June, along with the catering business and the weekly farmers market at Billings Forge. The Melville Trust will be exploring different ways to utilize the Firebox space to create new opportunities for the community in the future.
